Are sailcloth tents waterproof for rainy weather?
Yes. Despite the sailcloth’s soft, fabric-like appearance, the material is fully waterproof and engineered to withstand coastal winds and rain. The peaks are designed to shed water efficiently, and the perimeter can be outfitted with clear side curtains to keep guests dry without sacrificing the view or the natural light.
Can a sailcloth tent be installed on a parking lot or deck?
Sailcloth tents are tension-supported structures that require heavy-duty staking into the ground to maintain their shape and safety. They are best suited for flat, grassy areas or soft earth. If your venue is a hard surface, such as a parking lot or concrete patio, we typically recommend our frame tents or clear span structures, which can be safely secured with weighted ballasts rather than stakes.
How does the translucent fabric affect evening lighting?
The “glow” is the signature feature of a sailcloth tent. Because the fabric is translucent, interior string lighting or LED uplights reflect off the ceiling and are visible from the outside.
